Essential oils have been used since the earliest days of civilisation for their healing, cosmetic and aromatic effects. It should be noted that Simplicity Aromatherapy only uses therapeutic quality essential oils and applies the same principles used in modern and alternative medicines to utilise their therapeutic value. Essential oils have many major and minor chemical constituents, which can be over a hundred or more, while some constituents can be replicated synthetically the trace elements can not which is the reason why synthetic versions do not have the same healing effect on the skin.
Essential oils are made up of numerous different organic particles. What gives each oil it's uniqueness and therapeutic value is not one of the properties working alone, but the whole delicate balance of all the properties working together, they support the body to come back into balance without the harmful side effects of chemically based products.
Almost all essential oils have antiseptic, antiviral, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial qualities to a greater or lesser degree, they enhance our immune system through application on the skin (which allows the oils to penetrate into the bloodstream) because they contain oxygen molecules they can transport nutrients to cells that are nutrient and/or oxygen deprived.
The emotional importance of essential oils should not be underplayed either. People do not realize that many skin conditions are triggered by stress and emotional instability. Using certain essential oils as part of a daily skincare routine can have a double purpose - actively maintaining the skins conditions and keeping the emotions balanced by alleviating stress and anxiety.
Essential oils are active ingredients in skincare that affect the skin as either astringents, stimulants (increasing circulation), preventatives against infection and/or disease or hydrators. As some oils are hydrating and others are more astringent, when correctly blended, essential oils help create a balance and maintain various skin types and conditions. I've spent many years researching and formulating Simplicity Aromatherapy's ranges to ensure my products work in this way, and all products are stored in dark amber bottles and jars to protect the integrity and potency of the therapeutic essential oils used.
